Like all forms of sports, the Monster Energy Supercross Championship was abruptly halted in early March after completing ten rounds of the 17-round Championship. The last race was held on March 7 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. where Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac earned his fifth win of the season over top rival Team Honda HRC’s Ken Roczen, both of whom are competing for their first premiere class title with only three points of separation.

Resume Monster Energy Supercross. You can only see it on TV

Feld Entertainment announced this week that it is resuming Monster Energy Supercross racing May 31. It’s the first announced show since March when the company laid off 1,464 people.

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, will resume racing at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City and continue through June 21.

The final seven, made-for-TV races, will be broadcast on NBC networks without fans in attendance. The Utah Sports Commission coordinated the return of Monster Energy Supercross to Utah, the company said in a press release.

“Like all forms of sports, the Monster Energy Supercross Championship was abruptly halted in early March after completing 10 rounds of the 17-round championship. The last race was held on March 7 at Daytona International Speedway,” the company said.

“The sports industry in the United States, like virtually all industries, is being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Monster Energy Supercross fuels an entire industry and is the primary source of income for thousands, including competitors. With no events, the industry is in severe economic peril. It’s important to the economic infrastructure to get back to work,” the company said.

Feld consolidated its headquarters in the Palmetto-Ellenton area in 2013. In addition to Supercross, its live touring family entertainment shows include Monster Jam, Disney on Ice, Disney Live!, Marvel Universe LIVE!, Sesame Street Live!, Jurassic World Live Tour, and DreamWorks Trolls The Live Experience. Feld has presented entertainment in more than 75 countries.

It came as a shock in March when Feld called a company-wide meeting and laid off most of its staff.

“I don’t fault Feld because it is a great company, but we were told that our jobs were secure and that we would be able to work from home with company laptops,” Jamie Meade, who worked in ticket sales, told the Bradenton Herald in March.

2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Schedule | SX Calendar

The 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Schedule has been released, and there are some significant changes from last year. Before we get started, here’s a link to our 2019 Supercross Television Schedule for Streaming, cable, and TV.
Traditions remain—the Supercross season runs from the first Saturday in January to the first Saturday in May, and it starts in Anaheim and ends in Las Vegas.

Perhaps the most notable change on the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross schedule is the deletion of Tampa, Salt Lake City, and Foxborough, Mass., from the calendar. The three replacement cities will function as the run-up to the final round in Las Vegas.
On April 6, SX comes to Nissan Stadium in Nashville, and the following week to Broncos Stadium at Mile High in Denver.

Due to the placement of Easter in the calendar in 2019, the week off doesn’t come until after round 15 of 17. Round 16 is then at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Unlike last year, the opening five rounds are all in California and Arizona. Last year, round 2 was in Houston—the stop at NRG Stadium in 2019 is now round 13.

Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac
The farthest physical gap between rounds comes at the end of the season when the teams have to travel from East Rutherford to Las Vegas—about a 2500-mile drive. The next longest drives are back to back—2200 miles from Indianapolis to Seattle, and then 2300 miles from Seattle to Houston.
2018 Supercross Champion Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy/Husqvarna Factory Racing) will be defending his title against expected challengers Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM), Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki), and Ken Roczen (Team Honda HRC).
